Dynaflight Butterfly
This is my father's sailplane. He certainly does beautiful work. I really like his covering. He used transparent monokote for the wing and stabilizers. How does it fly? Better than it looks! This plane is a real floater and turns incredibly well. I highly recommend this kit as a great conversion for e power. He first built it as a gas model then made a second e-flight fuse. The e-version came out lighter than the gas version. He used smaller servos, eliminated the throttle servo, scraped the landing gear and constructed the fuse with lighter material. The Astro motor is placed in the same location that a firewall for the gas version would be. He used balsa and 64th light ply to construct the fuse and rounded out the nose for a cleaner line. The two piece wing is joined with a very heavy steel rod that could be replaced by a carbon fiber wing joiner. This would eliminate a few ounces of unnecessary weight.
